Ancient weapons from Biblical times discovered in the Holy Land
For nearly 5 centuries Rome served as the dominating world power of the Regions around the Mediterranean. The effects of their military campaigns can be seen to this day throughout the areas of Europe and Africa, however only one place in the world possesses arguably the largest archaeological remains of the might of the Roman Military, the Land of Israel.
In the modern day the Land of Israel contains some of the only preserved examples of ancient weapons from the Romans and their siege tactics, with places such as Gamla and Masada. These locations remaining virtually untouched from the days of their falls in the 1st century AD at the hands of Rome until our own Generation. Even the city of Jerusalem itself, though continually habited after Rome’s eventual fall bears the archaeological witness of the rage and fury of the Roman Empire as it sacked the city twice in a matter of 50 years during the New Testament Era.
Although many of the ancient weapons that we have uncovered today are too large to be anywhere but Museums with vast archaeological galleries, some small pieces of history have been uncovered and released to the open antiquities markets today.
