The Widow’s Mite Coin – The Poor Widow’s Offering Luke: 21.
Widow’s Mite Coin
In the time of Jesus, many Jewish people preferred to use old Jewish coins minted during the reign of the Hasmonean kings rather than using freshly minted Roman coins. The smallest of these Hasmonean coins was the bronze lepta of Alexander Jannaeus. They feature an anchor on the obverse and a star on the reverse.
They are found in a excavations in Israel.
