Roman denarius of Vespasian commemorating his victory over the Jews in the first Jewish Revolt.

Vespasian was the commander of the Roman forces in the First Jewish Revolt from 66 to 69 A.D.

After the death of Nero, he returned to Rome and became the next emperor. His son, Titus, continued the war, and conquered Jerusalem in 70 A.D.

This coin has the image of a woman sitting under a palm tree as a sign of defeat with “Judea” written underneath.

This is known as the “Judea Capta” coin, celebrating the captivity of Judea. This coin was minted in 79 A.D.
