Iron Age ointment jug (1200-925 B.C.) – Biblical antiquity jug for Bible scholars.

This style of Jug from the Iron Age was used for some type of valuable liquid, such as anointing oil, perfume, oil, or medicine because of the small opening to restrict the amount poured.  The style is known as a “honey jug” style.

Used during the period of the Israelite monarchy, during the time of King David and King Solomon.

The region of Samaria includes the mountainous area to the south of Galilee to the west of Beit Sha’an and the Jordan valley is were this type of Iron Age pottery was made, its good also to remind you its were Omride settlements consisted mainly.
