Description

King David period oil filler in very good condition

This type of black juglet is very distinctive of the Iron Age (1200-586 B.C.), and is a great piece from the time of King David and the Israelite monarchy.

The small opening was used to pour oil into lamps without spilling.

Then I went down to the potter’s house, and there he was, making something on the wheel. But the vessel that he was making of clay was spoiled in the hand of the potter; so he remade it into another vessel, as it pleased the potter to make. (Jeremiah 18:3-4)
