Description

Authentic Late Bronze Age clay oil jug with handle (1550-1200 B.C.)

This type of ancient jar was used by Israelites as a vessel for oil in the home.

The condition of this vessel is preserved through being stored in an alcove of the dwelling, discovered during the archaeological excavations.

Pottery as this type is mentioned in the Bible in 2 kings 4 Elisha replied to her, “How can I help you? Tell me, what do you have in your house?” “Your servant has nothing there at all,” she said, “except a small jar of olive oil.”

Good condition.
Height: 17 cm.

Oil jug discovered in the vicinity of Jerusalem.
