Red Varnished ancient pottery discovered in the Northern part of Israel

Phoenician pottery is rare in the Land – this type was from Akhsiv by Naharia,
In the Kingdom of Israel Iron age II 550 B.C the spice market was popular for which this jar was probably used.

She gave the king a hundred and twenty talents of gold, and a very great amount of spices and precious stones. Never again did such abundance of spices come in as that which the queen of Sheba gave King Solomon.

Phoenician pottery is known by the red varnished with black lines and heave weight because of the thickness of the clay.
