Authentic 4th century Byzantine glass perfume bottle discovered in Israel.

Very nice bluey color with a good patina and a very unique shape.

Registered with the Israel Antiquities Authority – Number: 641

Size: 2.5″ inch / 6.5 cm high.
Fair condition.

Discovered In Beth Shean (south of the Sea of Galilee). Beth Shean was transformed into a major Roman city after the Hasmonean Maccabee Revolt. Josephus records that the Jewish High Priest Jonathan was killed there by Demetrius II Nicator. The city was destroyed by fire at the end of the 3rd century B.C. and became a Byzantine village.
