Roman Glass Inkwell from Second Temple Period.
These glass vessels were made in a sand core mold and were limited to only very small vessels. Around the beginning of the first century however the Romans developed a technique of glass blowing. This allowed the creation of many new designs and shapes, and led to the widespread use of glass in the entire Roman Empire.
This piece from the first century is an authentic part of New Testament history and the traditions of Jesus’ time.
Excellent condition with very heavy patina – an amazing item.
