Description

Stone slingshot discovered in Israel used in King David time.

Slingshots were the most dangerous dangerous weapon available to armies during Kind David period. The stone slingshot was a very dangerous weapon in ancient times, and still is. There were units of slingers who specialized solely in the use of that weapon. Assyrian reliefs show slingers at the battle of Lachisch in 700 BC.

In the fourteenth year of King Hezekiah, King Sennacherib of Assyria came up against all the fortified cities of Judah and captured them. The king of Assyria sent the Rabshakeh from Lachish to King Hezekiah at Jerusalem, with a great army. (Is 36:1-2)

Stone slingshots are mostly discovered in the cities who refused to surrender in he time of Sennacherib and challenged Yahweh.

He took his stick in his hand and chose for himself five smooth stones from the brook, and put them in the shepherd’s bag which he had, even in his pouch, and his sling was in his hand; and he approached the Philistine. (1 Samuel 17:40)
