Description

Authentic coin of the widow’s mite framed in 14k gold Star of David design.

This is a small bronze coin used during the time of Jesus.  This coin was originally minted under the reign of Alexander Jannaeus. He was the Hasmonean king who ruled from 76-103 B.C., however this coin continued to be in use as small change during Jesus’ time.  Has a star on the front and an anchor on the back.

And He looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the treasury, and He saw also a certain poor widow putting in two mites. So He said, “Truly I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all. For all these out of their abundance have put in offerings for God, but she out of her poverty put in all the livelihood that she had.” (Luke 21:1-4)
