Herodian terracotta Juglet for storing vengar

At the time of Jesus, clay juglets came in a thin redish. This particular juglet is very similar in size and shape to one that was found in archaeological excavations Bethany.

“And standing behind him at his feet, weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears and wiped them with the hair of her head and kissed his feet and anointed them with the ointment.”  (Luke 7:38)

The Herodian-style clay jugs. It features a rounded, bulbous body, a narrow neck, and a funnel-shaped rim. A handle connects the rim to the body. The body of the juglet features light ribbing, strengthening its thin walls, which are made of reddish clay.
