My interests in teaching the Bible led me into archaeology, and that ultimately led me to an interest in antiquities. While I have used replicas and do use replicas of artifacts that are in museums (e.g., the Cyrus Cylinder, Nabonidus Chronicle, etc.), I find that my students get much more excited if I can let them experience an authentic artifact from Bible times. Also, some of the pieces I have on display in my home and office have served as nice conversation starters.
