This coin of the Procurator Herod Archelaus on Judea was currency in Jesus time.
Side A: Inscritp “EONAPXOY” (of the Ethnrach) crested on helmet with cheek straps.
Side B: Inscript “HPWAOY” (of Herod) bunch of grapes on vine and a small leaf.
Archelaus is one one of the governors who ruled on the Holy Land in the first Century, mentioned in the Gospels.
But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning in Judea in place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there. Having been warned in a dream, he withdrew to the district of Galilee. Matthew 2:22
The Procurator Herod Archelaus was the first son of King Herod the Great.
