Ancient Juglet Discovered In Hebron
Middle Bronze Age Juglet: Dark Grey, 13 cm tall, 8 cm wide
Discovered south of Hebron (the burial place of the patriarchs, cf. Genesis 23) this piece dates to the MBIIA, c 2000–1750 BC, the same period in which most biblical scholars place the patriarchs.
This Canaanite period juglet was used in the time of the patriarchs to contain Herbs or Honey.
Then he said, “Go around and get jars from all your neighbors. Get empty jars, many of them. Then go in and shut the door behind you and your sons. Pour the oil into all these jars, and set aside each one that is full.” (2 Kings 4:3-4)
