Description

Decorated Perfume Bottle from the Early Roman Period

“The jingling anklets, the scarves, and the crescents; the pendants, the bracelets, and the veils; the headdresses, the leg ornaments, and the headbands; the perfume boxes, the chairs, and the rings; the nose jewels, the festal apparel, and the mantles; the outer garments, the purses, and the mirrors; the fine linen, the turbans, and the robes.”
– Isaiah 3:18–23

This perfume bottle is made of blue glass in the blown glass technique. It has a short ovoid body and a long narrow neck. The rim is rolled outward. The bottle has an excellent patina, the oxidized layer that accumulates on the surface of glass over millennia. This perfume bottle is well-preserved except for some chips on the rim.

Height: 4.7″ / 12 cm.

Width: 2.5″ / 6 cm.
