Children’s Toy from the Bronze Age
Throughout history, children have learned about the world around them through playing. Toys are an important part of a child’s learning experience. This clay bull is an example of a child’s toy from the Bronze Age. Just like those from today, children’s toys from antiquity often represented animals. This Canaanite bull toy features wheels and a loop in the front to allow a child to pull it with a string.
This child’s toy is made of yellowish clay. It features a stylistic elongated body with an added head. The eyes are made of extra pieces of clay pressed onto the head. There is a collar around the neck. There is a loop of clay at the front to attach a string. Two of the four wheels have survived. They would have been attached to the bull with a wooden axle.
